Since its inception over 50 years ago, NTSAD has worked with a Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) comprised of world leading experts in lysosomal and leukodystrophy disease research and clinical care. These experts ensure that we know about the latest developments in research, potential therapies, genetic testing and clinical care. NTSAD is dedicated to finding a cure for Tay-Sachs, Sandhoff, Canavan, GM-1 and all the related diseases. Since we were founded over 50 years ago by a group of concerned parents, NTSAD has been at the forefront of advancing and supporting breakthrough research through the Research Initiative and collaborative programs.
This is a very exciting time in Tay-Sachs and related diseases research. The Tay-Sachs Gene-Therapy Consortium program has already shown excellent results in animal models and is driving toward initiating human clinical trials.
