Amelia Alford

Amelia is a beautiful, little girl with a sweet, gentle, and loving spirit who has a very stupid disease. Miss Amelia was born on September 29, 2006. She progressed normally until about nine months, and then she stopped meeting any new milestones. At eleven months, Amelia was referred to a pediatric neurologist, and after an MRI, EEG, blood tests, and an ophthalmology exam, we got the unthinkable diagnosis – Tay-Sachs disease. Watching Amelia lose all of her physical and mental abilities from about eleven months to eighteen months was brutal. But regardless of what Amelia’s body and mind cannot do anymore, her amazing spirit has continued to outshine all of the pain and heartache and bring such joy to those who love her.
